A growing number of internationally mobile entrepreneurs, investors and executives are moving away from traditional business conferences and toward more curated, invitation-driven environments designed around exclusivity, access and high-level relationship building.

That shift is increasingly visible in Madrid.

This autumn, the Spanish capital will host two business gatherings that are attracting growing attention across international entrepreneurial and luxury hospitality circles: the Best CEO Awards on October 3rd and the Best Company Awards on November 28th, both taking place at the Mandarin Oriental Ritz Madrid.

While relatively discreet compared to large-scale global conferences, the events appear to reflect a broader transformation taking place within premium business networking.

Luxury hospitality, private networking, curated guest selection and international positioning are becoming central components of how affluent entrepreneurs and executives choose to build relationships and expand influence.

According to individuals familiar with the organization, attendees are expected from more than 40 countries, including the United States, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Kingdom, Switzerland and Italy.

Part of the appeal lies in the exclusivity model itself.

Sources close to the events state that entrepreneurs with a net worth exceeding $10 million are generally accepted directly into the surrounding network. Applicants who do not meet that threshold may still access the community through a structured review process evaluating business growth, leadership profile, innovation, market positioning and social impact.

The result is an environment intentionally designed to remain highly selective.

Previous editions have already attracted internationally recognized entrepreneurs, investors and executives from sectors including luxury fashion, tourism, energy, cosmetics, consulting and technology.

Among the business leaders previously involved were Gabriele Burgio, CEO of Alpitour World, one of Europe’s leading tourism groups with revenues exceeding €2.5 billion, and Antonio De Matteis, CEO of Italian luxury house Kiton and current President of Pitti Immagine, one of the fashion industry’s most influential institutions.

Other notable attendees included executives and entrepreneurs connected to global industries ranging from cosmetics and investment to energy and international business development.

The setting itself also plays a strategic role.

The Mandarin Oriental Ritz Madrid has become one of Europe’s leading destinations for luxury hospitality and private high-profile gatherings, reinforcing Madrid’s growing reputation as a hub where business, wealth and lifestyle increasingly intersect.

Outside the venue during previous editions, luxury vehicles, black-tie receptions, champagne lounges and invitation-only networking dinners contributed to an atmosphere that felt notably different from traditional corporate events.

Industry observers say this evolution reflects broader behavioral changes among high-net-worth individuals and internationally connected founders.

“Increasingly, entrepreneurs at that level are prioritizing access to curated environments over scale,” says a European luxury hospitality consultant familiar with private business events. “The perceived value comes from the quality of the room, not the quantity of attendees.”

Madrid appears particularly well positioned for this shift.

Over recent years, the city has experienced strong growth in luxury real estate, international investment and affluent tourism, while also emerging as a preferred destination for globally mobile entrepreneurs seeking a balance between business infrastructure, lifestyle and discretion.

Against that backdrop, the Best CEO Awards and Best Company Awards are becoming part of a larger trend reshaping how premium business communities interact across Europe.

Not simply through conferences or public networking.

But through private ecosystems built around influence, positioning and access.
