In the heart of New York City, where the pulse of innovation is felt on every corner, we had the opportunity to sit down with Dr. Faustino da Rosa Junior, a leading figure in the intersection of technology and education. With the city skyline as our backdrop, we delved into his insights on the future of educational technology, his journey from law to tech entrepreneurship, and his vision for transforming how education is delivered globally.

The Journey from Law to Tech

Dr. Faustino’s path to becoming a tech entrepreneur is anything but conventional. Starting his career in law, with a deep focus on Digital Law, Business Tax Law, and Constitutional Law, he quickly realized that his true passion lay in innovation and the potential of technology to create significant change. “The legal profession taught me to understand and navigate complex systems,” he says, leaning forward as if to emphasize the point. “But it was the desire to innovate, to build something that could have a lasting impact, that drove me towards technology.”

In 2016, Dr. Faustino founded FGMED, now Brazil’s largest platform for continuing medical education (CME). The platform was born out of a need to address the gaps in medical education, providing professionals with the tools to stay updated in a rapidly changing field. “Brazil, like many other countries, has a healthcare system that is constantly evolving. Medical professionals need continuous education to keep pace with these changes, and that’s what FGMED aims to provide,” he explains.

The Rise of FGMED and Expansion into the U.S.

FGMED has not only revolutionized medical education in Brazil but has also set a new standard for how technology can enhance learning. The platform offers a wide array of courses designed to be accessible and practical, ensuring that medical professionals can integrate learning into their busy schedules. “We’ve created an ecosystem that supports lifelong learning,” Dr. Faustino says with a confident smile. “Our focus is on quality and relevance. We want to ensure that the content we provide is not only up-to-date but also directly applicable to the day-to-day challenges faced by doctors.”

The success of FGMED has paved the way for its expansion into new markets, including the United States. Dr. Faustino is acutely aware of the challenges that come with entering such a competitive market but remains optimistic. “The U.S. presents unique opportunities and challenges,” he notes. “We’re adapting our programs to meet local standards and regulations while maintaining the high quality that has defined FGMED. Our goal is to empower U.S. medical professionals just as we’ve done in Brazil.”

Innovation Beyond Borders

As our conversation shifts to the broader landscape of educational technology, Dr. Faustino’s enthusiasm is palpable. He believes that Latin America, particularly Brazil, is on the cusp of a technological renaissance, with significant potential for growth in sectors like online education and digital services. “Latin America is becoming a hub for innovation,” he says. “The interest we’ve seen from international markets, especially at events like the BEYOND Expo in China, highlights the region’s growing importance on the global stage.”

However, Dr. Faustino is quick to point out that there are still hurdles to overcome. High taxation, underdeveloped infrastructure, and a need for more supportive policies are just a few of the challenges that Latin American tech companies face. “We need a more conducive environment for innovation,” he stresses. “Supportive policies, investment in infrastructure, and incentives for research and development are crucial if we want to compete on a global level.”

Advice for Aspiring Entrepreneurs

Before we conclude, I ask Dr. Faustino what advice he has for budding entrepreneurs looking to make their mark in the tech and education sectors. His response is both practical and insightful. “Understand your market thoroughly before making any big moves,” he advises. “It’s easy to get caught up in the excitement of growth, but without a solid foundation, expansion can be risky. Pay close attention to regulatory issues and ensure you have a clear strategy. Also, never underestimate the importance of building a strong network—events like the BEYOND Expo are invaluable for that.”

Looking Ahead

As our conversation winds down, it’s clear that Dr. Faustino is a man driven by a desire to make a positive impact through technology. Whether it’s through FGMED, FG Investments, or his advocacy for better policies in Latin America, his vision remains consistent: to use technology as a tool for social change. “At the end of the day, innovation is about creating value and improving lives,” he concludes. “That’s what motivates me, and that’s what will continue to guide my work in the future.”

In a world where technology is rapidly reshaping industries, Dr. Faustino da Rosa Junior stands out as a leader who not only understands the potential of innovation but is actively working to harness it for the greater good. As he continues to push the boundaries of what’s possible, there’s no doubt that his influence will be felt far beyond the borders of Brazil.
