Boutique-style brokerage, beyond fun to say repeatedly, is an unexpected asset in the real estate industry. If you’ve ever engaged with a real estate firm, you know how much they prioritize their ROI—the desire for profit above all, including customer experience, is palpable. Brittany Cavallo experienced this feeling from the other end, when she gained a ton of experience in the field working for and with companies that pulled their business from the desperation of a customer base wanting housing instead of working with them around their enthusiasm. She developed Refined Real Estate as a response, hiring a seasoned team of brokers, architects, agents, and consultants to provide a personalized and genuine experience when you look to buy a home.

The immediate positive culture and passionate service uplifts their clients as well as elevates the capabilities of their staff. Agents at Refined Real Estate are encouraged to share their ideas and take initiative, knowing they have the backing of a leader who is invested in their success. When the business started, Brittany solved staffing problems by cleverly opening herself up to part time agents and offering them critical support to be able to avoid dissonance between their work and life. Having happy agents is the center of the positive culture at Refined Real Estate. Another problem turned boon came when low inventory, heightened interest rates, and legal complexities brought Brittany to respond by leveraging her boutique structure to offer clients customizable service packages and à la carte options, keeping up her adaptable and dynamic service. The ability to creatively shift to multiple circumstances has allowed her not only to weather industry-wide challenges but also to position herself as a leader in redefining the real estate landscape towards positivity.

Another pillar of Brittany’s business philosophy is community and family. Brittany collaborates with local businesses and participates in community events to foster a sense of trust and reliability among her clients. She knows that real estate is not just about transactions but also about building lasting relationships. A home is only strengthened when the community around it is strong. The business is also supported by Brittany’s family. Her husband Mark is a founder and the leading architect of the team, and their daughter Scarlett won over the famed position of Director of Sunshine! Their business is efficient because it healthily balances family and customer care.

Brittany’s interest in entrepreneurship was sparked by observing her mother’s various business ventures during her upbringing. The 2008 economic downturn, which led to the closure of her construction business, shifted her from construction into the real estate industry through a marketing position at Coldwell Banker, secured via a temporary agency. Over time, Brittany noticed that despite the different names on the doors, the core product offered by various real estate firms remained static and uninspiring. After founding her own brokerage in 2019, she’s been working to change the industry’s approach to client relationships and hiring processes. Refined Real Estate aims to reinstate affordability within communities, leverage innovative technological advancements, and make homeownership more accessible for all. Brittany believes real estate is not a one-size-fits-all business, so she also started providing career coaching as a service. She regularly attends industry conferences, participates in real estate forums, and stays updated on the latest market trends, so the advice she offers is excellent for new agents and brokers.

Brittany enjoys engaging with the public, and her business complements her charisma. She co-hosts a podcast called “Those Girls,” focusing on empowering small businesses and women within local communities. Additionally, she was a competitor on The Blox, a show for entrepreneurs, and has participated in local government, serving on boards such as the Cultural Council and the Housing Partnership, which provides grants to help people achieve homeownership. Brittany’s desire to innovate extends beyond basic real estate transactions, as shown by her outward-facing community involvement and business acumen. She invests heavily in technology to streamline processes and improve customer experience. With advanced tools for virtual tours, digital contracts, and online client portals, Brittany ensures that her clients have an industry standard home search. A tech-forward approach is key for Refined Real Estate, the team geared up for long-term success.

Refined Real Estate forecasts a growth in customer base and a reputation as a  trusted name in the real estate community. Going forward, Brittany looks to upgrade the experience of many more enthusiastic clients, mentor more upcoming entrepreneurs, and design homes for happy families like hers.
