One of the highly anticipated sessions at the conference, titled “Making the Work You Do Work for You,” will feature a panel of distinguished speakers who will share their expertise on capturing and utilizing data to close care gaps and improve member health outcomes. Among the speakers is Kyra Valdez-Shipp, R.N., MSN, CCM, founder and principal of Peak Performance Solutions Group. Valdez-Shipp, a seasoned healthcare leader, is not only a speaker but also an enthusiastic participant who is eager to engage with peers and gain insights from the event.
“I personally love HEDIS,” Valdez-Shipp shares. “I believe in the model, and with the upcoming changes that will deeply impact the performance of every product, I think this conference is the perfect opportunity to level set, get the annual updates, and network with like-minded professionals.”
Valdez-Shipp’s session will focus on innovative approaches to data utilization within healthcare organizations. She will explore how to capture valuable data from organic touchpoints with members and how to close existing data gaps using low- or no-budget resources. While many focus on HEDIS data to address care gaps, Valdez-Shipp emphasizes the importance of tapping into the wealth of unused data that could serve as early indicators of a member’s overall health and care needs.
Kyra Valdez-Shipp’s session will focus on the importance of effectively capturing and utilizing data gathered from member interactions, such as when a new member joins a plan or undergoes an annual Health Risk Assessment (HRA). By organizing this information in a structured format, healthcare organizations can gain valuable insights into a member’s likelihood of compliance and identify potential social determinants of health barriers. However, despite the collection of this data, many organizations are not fully leveraging it to its potential.
In her session, Valdez-Shipp will address the missed opportunities that exist within healthcare organizations to gather and utilize data from various touchpoints, whether through phone calls, texts, or online interactions. She will emphasize the importance of feeding this data into reports that can provide actionable intelligence, helping organizations to improve overall care and member outcomes.
Katie Gries, MHA, Manager of Quality Management at Blue Cross of Idaho, will join Valdez-Shipp on the panel to discuss how her organization has effectively used HRAs to identify and close care gaps, including through a successful cancer care outreach program. Shannon Decker, M.Ed., MBA, Ph.D., Principal at VBC One, will moderate the session, focusing on strategies that organizations can use to enhance patient experiences and ensure they receive valuable care at lower costs.
The 14th Annual HEDIS® & Quality Improvement Summit promises to be an invaluable event for healthcare professionals seeking to enhance their understanding of HEDIS measures and quality improvement strategies. The session “Making the Work You Do Work for You” is scheduled for the final day of the conference and is expected to provide attendees with practical, actionable insights.
